The DELF and the DALF are official diplomas of the Ministry of National Education to validate the French skills of foreign candidates and French people from non Francophone countries and without a secondary or higher education diploma.
There are 6 independant diplomas which correspond to the 6 levels of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) : DELF A1/A2 – DELF B1/B2 – DALF C1/C2.
Students who have the required level are encouraged to take these national exams validated by the Ministry of National Education. Courses to prepare the exams are possible several times a year.
The DELF and the DALF evaluate the 4 skills : listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing.

Each diploma is taken on a single day according to a national calendar fixed by the CIEP. Registration deadline : 4 weeks before the exam.

Successful candidates for the DELF or DALF must obtain an overall core of 50/100 with a minimum score of 5/25 per test.
A certificate of achievements is given by the CAREL on receipt of the results. The diploma is sent within 2 months.
These diplomas are valid for an unlimited period.
DELF A1 – A2 : 120 €
DELF B1 – B2 : 150 €
